Situated less than 100 yards from the sea, Craobh Haven Cottages combine the warmth and comfort of home with wonderful, unspoilt views of the islands and sounds of Argyll, from Jura in the South to Mull in the North.
Traditionally built to ensure local character and charm, both Cottages have exposed timber beams and feature a real fireplace built with local stone
, for which coal is provided free of charge. They are fitted and furnished to an award-winning standard throughout, and undergo continual renewal and improvement. The open-plan downstairs has a well-appointed kitchen beside a separate dining area and a spacious, comfortable sitting area with views to the west across the sea. The fireplace can burn coal, logs and peat. Other features of the living area include a flat screen digital TV, a DVD player and a CD player with radio (although radio reception in the area is not good, unfortunately). The cottages have free broadband WiFi
and there is also a coin operated telephone for making and receiving calls. There is a selection of DVDs, games and books, and we also maintain a folder of local information and brochures on things to do and places to visit
Upstairs each cottage has a double-bedded master bedroom, with a very comfortable 5ft divan and kingsize duvet, a fitted wash-hand basin and full length wardrobe cupboards. The master bedroom has the west-facing sea view. The second bedroom has twin beds and plenty of storage space. Jura’s twin room also has a wash basin and its third bedroom has twin full-size bunk beds. All beds except the bunk beds are fitted with electric blankets. The bathrooms in both cottages were recently refitted and have an electric shower installed over the bath, as well as new basins and baths. Bath, basin and WC are all sparkling white.
Bath and hand towels for each guest, duvet covers, sheets and pillowcases are all provided at no extra cost.
A cot is available if requested, but this does not have linen as most guests prefer to bring their own.
In the kitchen we provide best quality crockery and cutlery, and lots of pots, pans and cooking utensils. There is even a dishwasher to relieve the drudgery of washing up! Also in the kitchen are a microwave oven, toaster, kettle, food processor, filter coffee machine and cafetiere, large fridge/freezer, automatic washing machine, tumble drier and an electric oven and hob. A highchair can be provided on request.
Cleanliness and Comfort
The cottages are cleaned and cared for every week by the owners, Alison Hampton and Matthew Haggis. We pride ourselves on making sure that they are spotlessly clean and that everything is well maintained and working. We believe that only by doing it ourselves can we ensure that the cottages consistently meet our high standards. Both cottages are heated throughout by thermostatically controlled electric panel heaters. Therefore the open fire is not needed to keep you warm, and is really there to provide the unique comforting glow that only natural embers can. Coal for the fire, and all electricity is provided at no extra cost.
Following very clear guest feedback, both cottages are strictly NO SMOKING properties, and all smoking within the cottages is prohibited.
But don’t take our word for it – read what previous visitors have had to say by clicking here…
“The extremely high-quality cottage made up for the initial wet weather. It is obvious that the owners have an eye for detail: full equipment, splendid views, cosy decoration, up-to-date multi-media facilities, useful books and guides… In short, we have spent a memorable week at Craobh Haven.”
